The DC Bachata Congress is the largest Bachata Festival in the world taking place annually at the Doubletree Hotel in Washington, D.C. I was tasked with capturing the event and sharing it online.
The following video is a highlight reel of my work that I produced over the 4-day event.
Getting a media pass to shoot the Washington Redskins is a great honor! I wish I could post more of my photos but the NFL has strict copyright guidelines that I need to follow!
I love working with DC-area dance company, Ferocity Dance! This group has not only appeared in several of my video projects, but has helped launch my photography career and solidified a name for me in the DC-area dance community.
I am grateful and honored to do their annual shoot every year!
Commercial and Corporate work is a sector that I'm becoming more involved in. My work has been published in magazines worldwide and has collectively garnered over 1-million views. Here is some samples of some of the work I've done.
The Interfusion Festival fuses healing arts, acroyoga and dance in a multiple day, bi-annual event. In 2016 it took place at the Dance Loft in DC and has now expanded to the entire second level of the Westin Hotel in Alexandria, Virginia. I was honored to produce promotional material and work with a team of Independent photographers and videographers to capture the essence of the event.
I am a Portrait Photographer; it's what I love most. Posted throughout this site is a sampling of my portrait work. I don't post much of my event work as it does not coincide with my branding.
In addition to photography, I also do video work. Because of my relationship with the local dance community most of them are dance-related. I have, however, produced several commercials for non-profits, small-businesses and promotional material.
Reach out to me! Let's work together soon!
This is a pretty cool story of mine. I would rather tell in you in person how this came to fruition!
I made a promise to myself that I would commit my life to doing only the things I love. Many years have been spent studying photography through research, practice and endless photo sessions.
Photography is my full-time job. Leaving my former love as a ballroom dance teacher was not easy as I still love to dance and teach. Photography, however, won as the greater passion. My goal is to translate that passion into quality images.
Making my subjects feel comfortable and natural in front of the camera is something I love to do; especially for the inexperienced. Don't hesitate to ask for any tips on how to pose!
We brought industry professionals together to teach models how to pose, wear makeup and walk the runway!
Did I mention that I dance...?
Karivae Studio was a project that I later decided to pull the plug on. It was intended to be the video division of VirakPhoto. In the end, I felt it was better to keep everything under the same roof and working title, VirakPhoto.
Future videos will be produced under the name, VirakPhoto. Below are some videos that I produced.
I teach classes and workshops on various subjects in Photography and Videography. Visit www.PhotoFestDC.com for more information!
